Biography

Lauryn Callis is a graduate student in the Indigenous Studies Program at the University of Kansas, specializing in Film and Media. Her research focuses on Indigenous media representation, cultural storytelling, and the role of film in advancing sovereignty and community narratives. She is a Haskell Indian Nations University alumna, former student journalist, and creator of the YouTube channel BlessedAfroIndigenous, sharing cultural events and knowledge. She aspires to work in Indigenous philanthropy, supporting Tribal communities through media, education, and cultural initiatives. Outside of academics, Lauryn enjoys music, fashion, and creative projects that connect culture and self-expression.
